2014 TENTATIVE RACING SCHEDULE:
TBD

Short-Term Running Goals:

Run 6-days a week and maintain a decent base level of fitness. Upwards of 50-60 per week would be great. Adjust to my new work position, use time wisely, and keep negative stress at bay. Hopefully make a good run at Ogden this spring.

Balance family, work, running, and the other important things in my life.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Enjoy running and continue doing it consistently. Stay healthy and avoid injury as much as possible. Have fun!

Continue chasing PRs while I still can, particularly in the marathon and half marathon. Explore new races, improve training, build friendships, and learn from the wisdom and experience of the numerous great runners here in Utah. Run well into my old age.

Personal:

I live in Sandy, UT with my wife (Lindsay) and 2 kids. I love running the roads through my neighborhood and near Little Cottonwood Canyon. I also do a fair amount of treadmill running at the Life Centre Athletic Club. Aside from running, I love road and moutain cycling.

A.M. - The story with all these ~6-mile runs are that I've been staying up way too late (work), sleeping-in too long (low motivation), and not having time enough before work to put in much of a run let alone the stretching, core-work, cooling-up and down, etc. that I should be giving more effort to. The glute really isn't an excuse anymore. Just need to shed some of these self-destructive habits (namely my poor sleeping patterns) and enforce a little discipline. Apologies for the self-pity.

A.M. - 15-mile run on the standard course. I think this is the furthest I run since the day on my injury in mid-July. Felt good, the glute was a little tight afterwards, but was 90-95% unnoticable during the run. Perfect cool weather for a run. ~6:50 pace.

P.M. - Once up the Temple Quarry trail was all I had time for between GC sessions. There was snow all over the place, but the trail itself was clear. Great conditions for mtn biking in the lower elevations of the mountains right now.

I want to give a huge shout-out to all of you who ran so well down at St. George today. There were a lot of great times and personal break-throughs, you know who you are. I'm so envious that I wasn't down there today.

Kind of unusual running day.

A.M.1. - Got up late (again) and didn't have much time to squeeze in much of a run before my wife's turn. 7 miles.

A.M.2. - Met Jake at Highland High to wear test some Kinvara 5 proto-types (nice, BTW). Did two laps around Sugarhouse Park (5:41 and 5:47 for the 2nd and 3rd splits; that can count as my tempo miles this week:).

A.M.3. - On the way home I had a little time, so I decided to do a few more miles (6) up and down Millcreek. Started at the bottom and went to just past Camp Tracy and back. The Canyon is awesome right now.

P.M. - Two times up the Temple Quarry trail (mtn. bike).

A.M. - Short 3 miles out and back..... Weak, but that's all I had time for (my fault, of course, for sleeping too late).

P.M. - 6+ miles around my neighbor on an atypical route. Nice afternoon for a run. Just happy to have gotten a few more miles in today after this morning's next to nothing run.
