2014 TENTATIVE RACING SCHEDULE:
TBD

Short-Term Running Goals:

Run 6-days a week and maintain a decent base level of fitness. Upwards of 50-60 per week would be great. Adjust to my new work position, use time wisely, and keep negative stress at bay. Hopefully make a good run at Ogden this spring.

Balance family, work, running, and the other important things in my life.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Enjoy running and continue doing it consistently. Stay healthy and avoid injury as much as possible. Have fun!

Continue chasing PRs while I still can, particularly in the marathon and half marathon. Explore new races, improve training, build friendships, and learn from the wisdom and experience of the numerous great runners here in Utah. Run well into my old age.

Personal:

I live in Sandy, UT with my wife (Lindsay) and 2 kids. I love running the roads through my neighborhood and near Little Cottonwood Canyon. I also do a fair amount of treadmill running at the Life Centre Athletic Club. Aside from running, I love road and moutain cycling.

A.M. - 60 minute treadmill workout at the gym. Surprisingly good effort despite the big cycling miles the last couple of days:

5 minutes @ 9.5 mph, flat
10 mins @ 10.0, flat
20 mins @ 10.5, flat
25 mins @ 11.0, flat

Was happy to be able to hold this pace today. Endurance seemed to be good. I certainly didn't feel like I could take on inclines today. Maybe on Wednesday.

Had to go into the office today and tomorrow for mandatory training. No P.M. ride today as I want to let my back side recover a bit.

That sounds like a pretty solid run. Nice work.

You've really got me thinking about hitting the TM for some of my tempo efforts again. It seemed to work well for me leading up to St. George last year. I started doing them as a result of getting my doors blown off by you in the Timp and Hobble Creek halfs.

BTW - How are your shins feeling? How has your experience with Dr. Rawlin been?

Wow. Great run after those big bike rides. You will be more than ready for LOTOJA and any running race for that matter.

From JPark on Tue, Jun 26, 2012 at 22:57:49 from 174.52.34.169

Scott - Blew your doors off?!...That was hardly the case. I beat you by what?..30 seconds each time? I'm sure that won't be the case going forward. You've been putting up fantastic races and times this year and have been working a lot harder than me. You'll be blowing my doors off handily. My experience with Dr. Rawlin had been awesome. I've seen him a total of 6 or 7 times now. I was skeptical at first, but I'm definitely a believer now. The shin is all better. Thank you for referring me to him.

Fritz - Doing the century as part of the MS this weekend really put into perspective how hard doing LOTOJA is going to be (~206 miles). I've got just over two months, so I hope I'll be ready...Are you interested in trying to do an [easy!] ride in the next couple days or next week sometime? I'm pretty flexible, let me know.

Not to belabor the point, but in two of the three races we ran in last year, I was only close enough to see you finish one of them. Yes, blow my doors off! :-)

I'm curious to see how you'll do with so much cross training this year. You're gym/treadmill workouts have been pretty awesome. My suspicion is that you will perform better at the end of this year than you did and the end of last. Keep up the good work and good luck in your preparations for LOTOJA.

Justin, I will be out of town until the 4th but I will check in when I get back. EVENTUALLY we will go for a ride.

Scott, This also means that I won't be able to go for a run this weekend. :)
