2014 TENTATIVE RACING SCHEDULE:
TBD

Short-Term Running Goals:

Run 6-days a week and maintain a decent base level of fitness. Upwards of 50-60 per week would be great. Adjust to my new work position, use time wisely, and keep negative stress at bay. Hopefully make a good run at Ogden this spring.

Balance family, work, running, and the other important things in my life.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Enjoy running and continue doing it consistently. Stay healthy and avoid injury as much as possible. Have fun!

Continue chasing PRs while I still can, particularly in the marathon and half marathon. Explore new races, improve training, build friendships, and learn from the wisdom and experience of the numerous great runners here in Utah. Run well into my old age.

Personal:

I live in Sandy, UT with my wife (Lindsay) and 2 kids. I love running the roads through my neighborhood and near Little Cottonwood Canyon. I also do a fair amount of treadmill running at the Life Centre Athletic Club. Aside from running, I love road and moutain cycling.

P.M. - dang near goose-egged today... Was up way too late last night and consequently couldn't get out of bed to run this morning. Went to work and worked until about 9 PM. Easily could have thrown in the towel, but got home and mustered the courage to go out for a (short) late one. Up along the standard course to just passed the Bell Canyon parking lot. About 7 miles.

Canyonlands Half Marathon

Had my race report all written, but I hit something on my computer and lost it all. Dang-it. Maybe I'll come back and write it again later.

Short re-cap: Good run, awesome overall day. Finished the race in 1:15:21 and 9th overall place. My best time on this course by ~2:20 minutes. Mostly because the weather was good today compared to what it has been the last few years. My fitness certainly isn't the reason. I motored through most of the race at about 5:40-50 pace. Felt pretty good, but that was all the output the engine was going to give me today. I couldn't have asked for any better than that given the state of my training.

My buddies Scott T. and Corey had great days. I got 4 cool-down miles helping run them in. After the race, I hit up the Slickrock trail on my mountain bike for some awesome me-time.

Big kudos to Redd and Zak James who had especially awesome races!

It was good to see/chat with Fritz, Scott, and Brandon who all had good races.
